Maine East High School6

I'm a former student and also had siblings that attended M.E. All I can say is that this is a great school. AP programs are great and top notch. Theater program is great. The school even has a radio station. Facilities are great. The only thing not so great is the football and basketball team. The teachers are great and care about their students. You won't see the typical peer pressure that you see in other schools. M.E. has been malign by outsiders who know nothing about the school, claiming that there is a gang problem and drug problem. In reality, there isn't a gang problem, it's suburban gang wannabes that can be found in many suburban schools. The rumors of a drug problem is just that, rumors. The test scores are not high because there's a percentage of the student population that do not come from wealthy or middle class families that have parents that are not actively involve with their child's education but you can't blame M.E. for that. A lot of these students also work almost a full time job and that takes away from their studies. If you want a great education M.E. is the place. Don't listen to the stereotypes and rumors. Bottom line is, M.E. is a great school.

I use to help teachers out with home work and do other things for them

I love Maine East. The student body is friendly and isn't cliquey, you could talk to the person sitting next to you in class without fearing of being judged. Some teachers are horrible but there's many tutoring opportunities and make up work. It's a safe environment

Maine East was awesome when I attended. Very diverse. There are over 50 languages spoken in the halls, and it's a good environment for teenagers to learn about different cultures. Many of the teachers were awesome, and the AP programs rocked.

Maine East is really one of the best schools in Illinois.Especially, their ESL program help and encourage students a lot.On the other hand, you won't get as much opportunities as a regular student despite of your good performance. School is not famous for many sports but, they are really good. All different people with different cultures.

I was very sceptical about this school at first, but my fears very quickly disappeared. Faculty cares about students and they have a lot of very well developed after school programs. Their theater program must be the top in the nation. Great performances and unbelievably talented students year after year. What a great school!

Though many think that this school is inferior to others in the area, that is not the case at all. Yes, some(although very few) of the students do not live well-financed lifestyles which inevitably has an influence on their academic performance level. Yes, some students have problems with drugs. Yes, there sometimes are fights between students. Yes, our athletic record is less than superb. But Maine East is an incredible place to learn. Our gifted program offers great opportunites. Our school also offers an incredibly helpful remedial program. Aditionally, most of the teachers genuinely care about their students. Maine East also boasts a highly diverse enviorment. Though some students do not excel academically, there are many that do. I, for one, have a 4.8 GPA and know many others that do the same. Overall, Maine East offers great oportunities and is highly under rated by many.

This school is amazing. Don't let test scores fool you...Maine East has one of the top academic programs in the country. Plenty of our kids are living in poverty. I'm POSITIVE that if everyone in the school were more willing to learn (and didn't have to work hard at home trying to put food on the table), we'd top the rankings in the country.

This school boasts a friendly environment, and a multitude of clubs, activities, athletics,& cultures. There might not be much parent involment, however. There are no regulations that limit any parent from trying to involve. In Maine East High School, there is almost no such thing as cliques, inferiority or bullying. It occurs very rarely. This school may not be perfect, but I would say it is pretty close to being so. No school is all perfect. There are always tiny flaws in every school, and often times many people try to point it out and put the school down. So parents, I recommend kids to be sent to this school. Though many negative rumors go around about this school, the truth of the matter is, Maine East not only has a highly acknowledge past, it has an acknowledged presentand soon to be future.

I am a M.E. alumni from the class of 2000. This school is an accurate dose of the real world. I loved being able to befriend people from different backgrounds. Your child will not be judged by the brand of clothing he/she wears. The atmosphere is very welcoming. Parents are encouraged to be involved. However, M.E. doesn't have as many fanatical soccer moms as M.S. So, it may seem as if there is less parent involvement. The school has the appropriate authority and security.

There are way better schools in the same district. Maine East is not a school that is funded very well.

I have two children, one who is in elementary school, and one who goes to Maine East. I will make sure that my second child does NOT go to Maine East. It's academic programs are not bad, but the people there are not so good. And there is hardly any level of parent involvement.
